Australian Built & Australian Content
An Australian vessel
EGS Autonomy are proud to be able to display the trusted green and gold kangaroo logo. Our USVs are proudly Australian built, with materials, engineering, systems and contractors all sourced from within the Perth metro area. This local expertise allows us to provide continued rapid support for our vessels and our clients.
The Fremantle-class USVs are built in Fremantle - fabricated at Sealed Fabrication in Bibra Lake, with aluminium supplied and cut by Capral Aluminium in Canning Vale. An innovative aluminium 'flatpack' construction method allows hull components to be efficiently produced and transported for on-site assembly - a mature, repeatable build process with the flexibility to scale.
The vessel is a proprietary design of EGS Survey Pty Ltd, which holds all IP. EGS is currently building its second unit, and the next vessel (Fremantle or Ningaloo) is available for sale with a 7-to-9 month lead time from order.
EGS Facility
South Fremantle marine precinct
EGS operates from South Fremantle, within the Fremantle marine and technology precinct - close to Fishing Boat Harbour, Success Boat Harbour and the broader Fremantle Port area, with direct access to sheltered waters, vessel berths and marine contractors. The headquarters and Remote Operations Centre are at 22 Mews Road, South Fremantle. The site supports USV build, integration, testing, maintenance and operational readiness, alongside EGS's own surveyors, processors, marine team, mariners and technicians.
Capability timeline
A capability already in service and scaling
Programme commences
EGS commits to a long-term investment in Australian USV survey capability, following the introduction of Phase 2 of the AHO HydroScheme Industry Partnership Program.
Proven in service - SI 1054
The first major survey by the Fremantle-class: a three-month HIPP campaign off Israelite Bay, WA, validating the full operating model of vessel, ROC and support vessel.
Second unit under construction
EGS is building its second vessel, demonstrating serial production through the established flatpack build workflow.
Ningaloo 20 production begins
Production of the next-generation Ningaloo 20 platform begins - designed from the outset for advanced payloads, extended endurance and uncrewed operation.
Scaling & upgrade
A clear pathway to scale production and to upgrade machinery and sensors as technologies emerge, supporting multi-USV force-multiplier operations across the fleet.
